World Youth Day Rio 2013

The World Youth Day 2013, with the presence of Pope Jorge Mario Bergoglio, will be held 23 to 28 July 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and has as its motto: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" (Mt 28, 19).
The World Youth Day, as it was called in 1985, continues to present to the world the witness of a living faith, transforming and show the face of Christ in every young person.

Remember that this event was promoted by Pope John Paul II in 1984.

GMG has as main objective to make known to all the youth of the world the message of Christ, but it is also true that through them the "face" young Christ is manifested in the world.

The World Youth Day, which takes place annually in dioceses around the world, provides every 2 or 3 years an international meeting of young people with the Pope, which lasts about a week.
The latest edition of the International Youth Day was created in 'August of 2011, in the city of Madrid, Spain, and brought together more than 190 countries.

World Youth Day has its origins in the great meetings with young people celebrated by Pope John Paul II in Rome.
The International Youth meeting took place in 1984 on the occasion of the Holy Year of the Redemption in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican. E 'was here that the Pope has given the young people the Cross which has since become one of the main symbols of World Youth Day, better known as the Cross of the Day.

The following year, 1985, was declared by the United Nations International Year of Youth.
In March there was another international meeting of young people in the Vatican, in the same year, the Pope announced the establishment of World Youth Day.

WYD provides for feasts, sharing, testimonies, examples of love of neighbor and the Church, music festivals and cultural activities. In short, an event designed to a meeting of hearts believe that, moved by the same hope that the brotherhood in diversity is possible.

The logo of the WYD Rio de Janeiro in 2013 was produced by Gustavo Huguenin, a young Brazilian man of 25 years, at the auditorium of the building, John Paul II, in the district of Glory, "brand" for the next WYD 2013.

The new logo of the World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro portrays the Brazilian colors - green, yellow, blue, white -
with the center of the image of Christ the Redeemer, which is characteristic of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. Note also the silhouette of the Sugar Loaf, the mountain of Rio de Janeiro, and it also opens a heart, the heart of youth. Then, there is a small cross which commemorates the day center which is Christ himself.

The event will have a large participation of many young people and will be broadcast on all major television stations in the world.
